The Beaver Caps Plant

Beaver caps (Briza media) is a plant of the grass family (Poaceae) on the Dutch Red List of plants is a very rare and very much reduced. In South Limburg, the Savelsbos is breeze still exist. However, sometimes elsewhere, except in Drenthe, Netherlands. In Belgium, the species locally common on the coast. Beaver caps is a perennial plant, 20-50 cm high. The plant is short rhizomes (rhizome), at the end again and shoot above the ground and so vegetative reproduction. Beaver little flower from May to August with a highly branched inflorescence (panicle). The nodding spikelets are long steal. The kelkkafjes are green or purple. The fruit is a fruit crop.

Little beaver occurs in relatively open grassy places in not too dry soil.
